Pre-Testing for Smoke Damage
This is an example of a smoke damage in Batesville, Arkansas. The loss was not noticed immediately and occurred over time. The source of the soot was from a malfunctioning gas log fireplace. We pre-test every smoke or fire loss with a dry sponge. The sponge doesn't have any chemicals in it. The photo shows clearly how the soot transfers from the structures surface to the sponge. This is a quick way to know what rooms within a job site have soot damage. Sometimes the soot may only be up high on a wall or the ceiling since smoke rises. This process, once completed in a room, may or may not require further services such as painting. The dry sponge can be used on walls, ceilings, blinds, furniture and many other items.
